This Cretan style hotel, which has won a European Award for its excellent service being elected as one of the best hotels in Crete, is situated in the village of Istro, 11 km from Agios Nikolaos. The position of the hotel on a small hillside gives beautiful views over the Bay of Mirabello and the surrounding mountains.

The traditionally styled hotel generously arranged in six buildings, sits in impressive 16,000sqm grounds with attractively landscaped gardens with swimming pool and a children's play ground.

The hotel has 90 rooms, (SNGL, DBL, DBL with extra bed) each with balcony or veranda (SNGL rooms without balcony or veranda), shower/WC, telephone and radio. Air conditioning is available in some of the rooms at an extra charge (preference on request). It is possible for families to have two adjoining DBL rooms or a family room (1 room with 4 beds) for 4 people.
The hotel facilities include a large reception area decorated in traditional Cretan style, with a Reception, Bar, open fireplace and satellite TV. There is a comfortably decorated separate TV room, which has a VCR and a selection of videotapes for children. There is a playing room with table tennis, and billiards. The large swimming pool, with children's pool has a snack bar close by and is well equipped with sun beds and sun umbrellas.

The restaurant provides a substantial breakfast buffet and a varied evening meal including vegetarian choices and menus for children. A child up to the age of 5 years stays free, when sharing a DBL room with two adults. Further facilities include a laundrette, and for an extra charge you can rent a fridge, or a safety box. Evening entertainment takes place from time to time at the hotel.

The clean sand and pebble beach is about 700 metres away, while shops and tavernas can be found in the immediate surroundings of the village. A bus stop with a regular service into Agios Nikolaos is close by, on the central road beneath the hotel. The beautiful setting of the Elpida Hotel, within its attractive grounds, along with the friendly welcoming atmosphere given to families with children should allow every guest to feel wonderfully relaxed and well, and generally to have a terrific holiday.
